Bursting With Flavor
A Sophisticated Fruit
With Many Names
For thousands of years the people of Peru and the Andean Regions have cultivated Goldenberries as Aguaymantos; the Peruvian name for Physallis peruviana. The Inca developed an advanced agrarian society and cultivated many unique crops including Yacon, Quinoa, Potatoes, Corn and Amaranth. We only grow Goldenberry varieties that resemble these ancient plants to preserve and share this delicious flavor.

WHAT IS A GOLDENBERRY?
Goldenberry has been grown in many regions around the world and has been given many names. In Peru it is mostly called Aguaymanto or Topotopo. Nearby in Columbia it is called Chuvas and across the Pacific in Hawaii it is called Poha Berry. The plant was also cultivated in South Africa where it may have received the name Cape Gooseberry, though not related to true Gooseberries (Ribes). The fruit has also been called Groundcherry, Husk Cherry, Pineapple Gooseberry and many other English descriptors.

OUR STORY
Jacob and Isis have been growing Goldenberries for over 8 years. It all started with some seeds a friend brought back from Peru. As soon as they tasted their first fruit, they were hooked. Since then they have tended the plant and saved seeds from the juiciest and largest berries. It is thier greatest joy to be able to share this plant and all its wonder with you.
